United Igbo Elders Council Worldwide Congratulates New Ohanaeze Ndigbo President General



Enugu, Nigeria – February 07, 2025

In a historic show of solidarity, the United Igbo Elders Council Worldwide (UNIEC) paid a congratulatory visit to the newly elected President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Senator John Azuta Mbata, at the organization's headquarters in Enugu. 

The visit not only marks a new chapter for Ohanaeze Ndigbo but also reflects the broader unity and collaboration between United Igbo Elders Council Worldwide and Ohanaeze Ndigbo leadership aimed at addressing the evolving challenges facing the Ndigbo.

Led by its Director General, His Lordship, Justice Alpha Ikpeama, the delegation expressed heartfelt congratulations to Senator Mbata on his recent election and emphasized the importance of leadership that embodies the core values of the Igbo people—integrity, resilience, and a steadfast commitment to progress.

UNIEC reaffirmed their support for the new President General and expressed optimism that his tenure would usher in a new era of cooperation, development, and advocacy for the Igbo people both in Nigeria and across the globe

In conclusion, the visit by the UNIEC to the new Ohanaeze President General highlights a commitment to unity and progress between the two organizations.

  Statement from the United Igbo Elders Congress Worldwide e United Igbo Elders Congress Worldwide condemns—unequivocally and in the strongest terms—the barbaric and brutal attack carried out by armed gunmen on worshippers at Christ Apostolic Church (CAC), Eruku, Kwara State, on the night of November 18, 2025. This horrific incident, in which innocent Christians gathered in a vigil were savagely attacked, is an affront to every principle of humanity, decency, and civilized society.
