UNITED IGBO ELDERS CONGRESS (UNIEC)
Mobilizing the Strength of Ndigbo in the Diaspora
BACKGROUND OF THE ORGANIZATION
The United Igbo Elders Congress (UNIEC) is a noble assembly of distinguished Igbo elders and patriots drawn from across the world.
The organization is duly registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) under RC No. 8583834, and guided by principles of integrity, unity, wisdom, and moral reawakening within the Igbo nation and beyond
A CALL TO IGBO ELDERS, PROFESSIONALS, AND STAKEHOLDERS ABROAD
To our brothers and sisters across North America, Europe, Asia, the Middle East, Africa, and Oceania:
The story of Ndigbo is no longer confined to the geographical borders of Nigeria. Today, millions of Igbo sons and daughters are spread across the world—excelling in medicine, engineering, academia, business, technology, law, diplomacy, faith institutions, and public service.
Yet, despite our remarkable global achievements, the collective voice and strategic influence of Ndigbo require stronger organization, coordination, and engagement.
This is why United Igbo Elders Congress Worldwide (UNIEC) invites you to become active participants in PROJECT REPOSITION NDIGBO.
THE ROLE OF THE DIASPORA IN PROJECT REPOSITION NDIGBO
The Igbo Diaspora is not merely an observer—it is a strategic pillar in the future of Ndigbo.
Diaspora chapters are expected to support Project Reposition Ndigbo through3
Strategic Advocacy – Engaging policymakers, diplomatic communities, research institutions, and international platforms on issues affecting Ndigbo and Nigeria
Knowledge & Policy Exchange – Providing professional expertise, global best practices, and developmental ideas
Media Engagement – Helping shape balanced narratives about Ndigbo through international media and digital influence
Investment & Development Support – Encouraging responsible investments and community development initiatives in Igboland
Youth Mentorship – Supporting younger generations of Ndigbo through mentoring, leadership development, and cultural continuity
Chapter-Based Mobilization – Organizing local meetings, conferences, cultural engagements, and outreach programs
A SPECIAL RESPONSIBILITY OF DIASPORA ELDERS
Many respected Igbo elders and accomplished professionals abroad care deeply about the future of Ndigbo but remain disconnected from structured engagement.
They are among us:
In our churches and fellowships
In our cultural associations
In our professional networks
In our business communities
In our social circles and families
As members of the Diaspora, we must intentionally:
> Identify them. Engage them. Introduce them. Mobilize them.
No concerned Igbo elder should remain uninvolved simply because nobody invited them into purposeful action.
WHY JOIN A DIASPORA CHAPTER?
By joining a UNIEC Diaspora Chapter, you become part of a coordinated global network committed to:
Advancing the collective interests of Ndigbo
Advancing "Aku Lue Uno" Think-Home Philosophy
Building constructive bridges between Ndigbo and the global community
Supporting advocacy for justice, equity, and national inclusion
Contributing ideas, influence, and expertise toward sustainable development
Strengthening Igbo unity beyond borders
OUR WATCHWORD
Global Influence. United Voice. Collective Responsibility.
CALL TO ACTION FOR DIASPORA CHAPTERS
The future of Ndigbo requires participation—not observation.
Let every Diaspora chapter commit to:
> One Elder, One Invitation, One Commitment at a Time.
Together, we can build a stronger, more respected, and strategically positioned Igbo nation within a united Nigeria.
